IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH!! GJ Willis' Art Notes

The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore.

Name:
Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States

I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

This morning I went to church. I have not been there in a month. The main reason I stopped going was that I did not feel comfortable with this year's Summer services. The Summer services last year were cool. Somehow everyone seemed much friendlier last year than this year. The main problem I had with this year's services was that it seemed that they did not have enough hymn books to go around. And it also seemed that whoever I was sitting by did not seem willing to share. I just felt kind of stupid standing around while almost everyone had a hymn book or a person near by who was willing to share. It should be noted that Summer services are held in the church's Parrish Hall and not in the Sanctuary. The Parrish hall is a much smaller venue than the Sanctuary. And you guessed it today's service were held in the Sanctuary. So thus there were plenty of hymn books to go around!

Today's service was in honor of Labor Day. The title of the sermon was, The Boss. An interesting thing about the service was that it featured the music of Bruce Springsteen. God/Goddess, I love going to a Unitarian Church!

APTOPIX US OPEN TENNIS, originally uploaded by willisgirl.

After Church I went home and watched Andre Agassi at the U.S. Open in his last professional tennis match. It was kind of sad watching him. He seemed to be limping around. I understand that this was because he has a bad back. Alas, he eventually lost to the German, Benjamin Becker (no relation to Boris Becker). However, after the match he got one heck of a standing ovation.

I really like what he said when he tearfully, addressed the crowd. Agassi said, "The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard didn't say was what I found. You have willed me to succeed sometimes even in my lowest moments...You have given me your shoulders to stand on, to reach my dreams....dreams I could have never reached without you. Over the last 21 years, I have found you, and I will take you, and the memory of you, with me for the rest of my life."

Agassi retires with 60 titles and more than $30 million in career earnings and elite status as one of only five men to have won all four major titles, Wimbledon, the French Open, Australian Open, and the U.S. Open. Rock On Dude!
