The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore. |

About Me
I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

Saturday, January 20, 2007 SATURDAY NETFLIX NIGHT This evening I watched Donnie Darko. The movie starred Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role. I rented this movie because it was amongst the ones recommended to me according to the types of movies I previously rented on Netflix. Overall, I found it to be brilliant. It was amongst the most thought provoking movies I have ever seen. In fact after watching it I had to see it again. I even went to web sites to further research the meaning and imagery used in the movie. In my research I learned that according to the director of the movie it was all about a tangent universe branching off of the primary universe. To me his explanation did not make much sense and bordered on the rantings of a mad man. Besides, in the movie there was no mention of any of this. I prefer to view the movie as Its a Wonderful Life done in reverse. Meaning that with Its a Wonderful Life George Bailey is shown how the world would be like if he was never born. In Donnie Darko, Darko, is shown what the world would be like if he survived a jet engine crashing through his bedroom. After seeing this movie I want to buy it and make it a part of my dvd collection. Below is the original movie trailer to Donnie Darko. It clocks in at 2:22 minutes. Also after seeing the film I was reminded of the breathtakingly haunting remake of the Tears For Fears song Mad World done by Gary Jules. The song appears at the end of the movie. It fits in nicely with the ending and seemed so apropos. In case you have never heard the Gary Jules version of Mad World I have included it below. WALKING STATS STEPS....4159
