The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore. |
||||||
About MeI am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

Thursday, August 31, 2006 This morning I did everything right. I woke up an hour early to do my yoga. I even left out the door ten minutes early. And guess what? The bus was late! When the bus finally arrived it was crowded with wall to wall people. It was being driven by an anorexic looking elderly female driver who wore her hair in a towering grey afro. I wonder where they dug her up from? In retrospect it seems that I tend to be late on Thursdays. I wonder if this is the day that the MTA does shift changes from weekday to weekend drivers? Anyway, I hate being late for work twice in one week. Heck, I hate being late, period! WHAT I'M WEARING WALKING LOG STEPS....10020

Tuesday, August 29, 2006 This morning as I was walking down to the light rail stop I was surprised to see a co-worker drive by. Even more surprising she offered to drive me to work. Nothing like this has ever happened before. It appears that she had just dropped off a friend at the airport and was headed to work when she saw me walking by. Thanks to her I made it into work at 6:36 am. This is the earliest I have ever made it into work since we moved into the new building. When we were at the old building I used to arrive half an hour to fifteen minutes early. Also as I was arriving I saw the two deaf men who work in our company arriving as well. I know that that they both take the light rail to work as I do. I will have to ask one of them at what time they catch the train. Alas, of the two there is only one I can ask. I can ask him because he wears a hearing aid and whenever I see him I waive. The problem is I forgot his name... WHAT I'M WEARING WALKING LOG STEPS....8723

Monday, August 28, 2006 MORNING COMMUTE When I finally made it out to the bus stop I could not help but notice that the buses had a couple of children on them with book bags. Oh my Gosh!! Its the first day of school! WoW!! I remember back when I was in school I often found it difficult the sleep the day before the first day of school. And here it is close to twenty years out of public school and not knowing its the first day school and still finding it difficult to sleep. WALKING LOG STEPS....5706

Yesterday, for the first time ever I watched Evil Dead. I primarily watched it to see what it was about. I also watched because it was the first movie directed by Sam Raimi, the guy who directed the Spiderman movies. It also starred legendary cult actor, Bruce Campbell. Overall, I did not care much for the movie. The only part of the movie that was good was near the end where you see all this claymation stuff of a decomposing zombie. Then again I suppose I should not fault the movie too much because obviously it was put together on a shoe-string and there were subsequent sequels. At a later date I will re-watch the movie with commentaries on. Who knows maybe I will develop a better appreciation of the movie after viewing the commentaries... Oh, by the way I also plan on renting the other Evil Dead movies from Netflix. WALKING LOG STEPS....4732

Saturday, August 26, 2006 Today, just for the heck of it I signed up on a couple of online dating sites. I do not expect any matches because I included in my profile a recent real life picture of me. I am willing to admit that I am not that attractive of a person. In my lifetime I have only had three boyfriends. Men just are not interested in me. Then again it could be because I am a very difficult person to get to know... You know what? I think I might also sign up for a Jewish dating service like J-Date. I wonder if you can join if you are not Jewish? WHAT I'M WEARING WALKING LOG STEPS....7540

Friday, August 25, 2006 This is a close up picture of my KISS t-shirt. On the back it says, I Wanna Rock and Roll all Nite and Party Every Day DAILY COMMUTE CONCERN OF THE DAY WHAT I'M WEARING >I really wanted to wear my KISS t-shirt today. At work I have only worn it on the weekends. I do not know why I would feel uncomfortable about wearing it on a weekday. I suppose one day I will gather up the courage to wear my KISS t-shirt on a weekday. Oh, by the way I primarily bought the shirt because it was on sale for $7 at Walmart. Also I bought it because I have always wanted a KISS t-shirt. WALKING LOG STEPS....9663

Thursday, August 24, 2006 You know I kind of miss the old format of this blog. I mean how many other bloggers give you a daily fashion update of what they are wearing. So thus I am going back to my old format until I get bored. DAILY COMMUTE WHAT I'M WEARINGToday, I have on green khaki pants and a short sleeves striped shirt. The stripes on the shirt include red, orange, and yellow. The shoes I have on are Doctor Scholls Walking shoes. WALKING LOG STEPS....11379

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 I feel a little ticked off at the TV show Survivor. I feel ticked off because for the upcoming season they will be dividing contestants according to race. This I feel is divisive because we as a society should be working towards racial harmony not creating a pseudo TV race war. Shame on you Survivor! WALKING LOG STEPS....6888

Tuesday, August 22, 2006 I was very excited when I got home from work today to find a post card from the Board of Elections for Baltimore City about early voting. I thought to myself, Hey this is Great!! Maryland has joined the 21st century!! I no longer have to rush home before the polls close to cast my vote. I can vote on a Saturday!! Now I learn that that the post card I received was illegally sent out. It appears that the city has yet to decide if they will be allowing early voting for next months primary. Oh, well... Monday, August 21, 2006 Russian Mathematician, Grigori Perelman, solver of the legenday Poincare conjecture and 2006 winner of the prestigous Field Medal. In school I was never any good at math. So whenever I hear that anyone is exceptionally gifted in that subject I am amazed. Recently, I heard that the Poincare conjecture had finally been solved. The Poincare conjecture is a mathematical problem that has frustrated mathematicians for well over a century. I can not go into the particulars of the problem because as I previously stated I was never any good at math. All I know is that the Poincare conjecture has something to do with finding a mathematical equation related to shape. And in figuring out the equation it will allow scientists to figure out the shape of the universe. Anyway, finally after more than a century the conjecture has been solved! It was solved by a 40 year old reclusive Russian mathematician named, Grigory Perelman. Perelman will also most definetly be a shoo in to win the Field Medal which is mathematics equivalent to the Nobel Prize. Along with the Field Medal he will also get one million dollars for successfully solving the equation that has dumbfounded many mathematicians over the years. Sadly, this math genius is currently unemployed and living with his mother. He has been unemployed since December and is living off a $30 a month pension. Also, sadly, I heard that he will be turning down the prize and the money. It is speculated that the reason he turned it down is that he did not have the money to travel to Madrid to pick it up.... Sunday, August 20, 2006 Today, I went over to my fathers house to visit. On the way back I was pleasantly surprised to get my favourite cab driver. He has been my cab driver on and off for the past two to three years. We have had a long standing conversation about vegetarian restauraunts ever since Thanksgiving or was it Christmas 2003 or 2004? This is the guy who hipped me to the Yabba Pot, a vegetarian restaurant I have yet to visit. Apparently, there store on Washington Boulevard will be closing for good. However, they will be re-opening the one on St. Paul Street. Anyway, it was nice to see him again. I did not recognize him at first because he now had a bald head. Sadly, he cut off his dreadlocks so that he could get a job working for the man. Despite now having a 9-5 government job, he told me that he still likes to drive a cab on the weekend. In fact he told me that he does not consider driving a cab to be work. In fact he enjoys doing it. I hope that I get him again in the near future for my cab driver. WALKING LOG STEPS....2955

Saturday, August 19, 2006 ok Today, for some odd reason I found myself feeling rather joviant in the fact that tennis player, Roger Federer, has finally broken his winning streak. Yeah, I know he lost the French Open this year to Rafael Nadal. However, Federer has not lost a single tennis match in United States since 2004. He was finally defeated at the Cincinnati Masters by a 19 year old Scottish teenager named Andy Murray. Who would have ever thought that the worlds top seed tennis player and 8 time Grand Slam winner would be beat out by a kid! Here's to you Andy Murray wherever you are!! CHEERS!! Wednesday, August 16, 2006 Currently, in my email IN box I have about 3,000 emails I have yet to read. This is normal for me around this time of year. The reason being is that in the summer time I tend to find places to seek shelter away from the heat. As I have written before my aparment is not air conditioned. Anyway, amongst all the emails I found a letter from a woman who says that she is the great grand daughter of Farmer Willis, this would make her a cousin. Farmer Willis was my grand fathers brother. So now I am at a dilemna of sorts. What should I write back to her about my not answering her email right away? I believe it was dated August 2nd or should I even bother to respond? Maybe she would view it as bad manners because I did not get back to her right away? Ahhh, questions, Questions? Questions... WALKING LOG STEPS....11256

Monday, August 14, 2006 Oh, my goodness!! I can not believe it!! I was actually on time for work this morning! I even had time enough to do yoga! As far as the rest of the day went. It was a bit nerve wracking. Yesterday, I found out that my niece was behind in her mortgage payment. So I along with my father volunteered to help her out with it. You see she has been out of work for a couple of months and has recently found a new job. So in essence, Heck, not essence, actuality. I was walking around with $3,000 in cash on my person to deposit to her mortgage company in the form of a money order. I can not recall ever feeling so nervous. Everywhere I looked I was afraid that I would be mugged. All in all everything worked out. I got the money orders and promptly mailed out the payment. Next I guess I will worry over if the mortgage company got the payment on time.... WALKING LOG STEPS....10825

Sunday, August 13, 2006 Today, for the first time in a long while I popped in a yoga tape and started practing my asanas. A little later in the day as I walking to the bus stop to go over my fathers house I found a gold coin. The gold coin had on both its sides a picture of an angel. I wonder if it is worth anything? Monday, August 07, 2006 I was late yet again for work. I really must come up with a better strategy for being on time again now that it appears that the heat has abated. Also sadly, I have not done my morning yoga in a week due to the excessive heat. As I have written before I do not have air conditioning and am getting by soley by the aid of two fans that blow hot air. Sweating while doing yoga would not be so bad. I have always wanted to try out Bikram Yoga. The only thing putting me off from attempting an imprompto Bikram Yoga session at home was the heat. The heat was so powerful that I found it difficult to sleep at night. During the heat wave I would literally wake up in the morning and see a sweat outline where my body laid the night before in bed. Hopefully, some time this week I can get back to waking up early and doing my yoga. God/Goddess I Really Miss My Yoga!!! WALKING LOG I thought it would never happen! I forgot to put my pedometer in my pocket this morning. This all happened because I woke up late and was in a mad rush to leave out for work on time. Sadly, I ended up being late. The values below are what I did when I got home from work and walked over to the supermarket to do some grocery shopping. Of which I might add I got caught in a thunderstorm on the way over while toting my trusty blue metal shopping cart. I felt like a walking target for a lightening strike. Thankfully none struck. However, for the first time since viewing the Doctor Who episode, The Empty Child, I understood the inappropriatness of Rose wearing a Union Jack T-shirt while hanging from a ballon in the middle of the London Blitz. She was practically a target as I felt with my metal shopping cart. STEPS....3969

Sunday, August 06, 2006 Today, I continued on viewing my brand new Doctor Who Box Set. Below is a quick review of what I felt about the episodes I saw. Fathers Day The story was basically about Rose going back in time to meet her father on the day that he died. As you might well expect instead of letting him die at the last moment she saves his life and this being Doctor Who, bad things begin to happen. The only way for things to be set right is for her to loose her father yet again. Very heart wrenchingly, sad episode.
I still can not get over the fact that some people feel that Captain Jack's American accent is fake! John Barrowman, the actor that plays Captain Jack grew up in Chicago! I just find the whole thing hilarious that some people feel that an American is doing a horrible American accent. I think this may be because its a British television series. Thus all the Yanks are assumed fake. Anyway, I love Captain Jack! I hope that Torchwood will be brilliant! Torchwood is the series that Captain Jack will be spinning off into next year.

Friday, August 04, 2006 Today, was the first day of Otakon. Otakon is a big anime convention that is held every year in Baltimore. I have always wanted to go to see what it is like. However, it seeems that every year I forget to try and find out the dates of the festival. This year like all the other years I forgot to check. The only reason I knew it was Otakon was that during my morning commute I saw a couple of people milling around outside Dunkin Donuts dressed like anime characters. Seeing people dressed like anime characters in Baltimore in the summer can only mean one thing, either you have been watching way too much anime or Otakon is in town. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I freely admit that I am a sci-fi, anime, comic book reading, geek/nerd. However, I have never crossed the line where I have wanted to dress up and pretend I was a fictional animated character. Oh, well I suppose based on this trait of mine its best that I never find out when Otakon is held. You know I can not help but look at those Otakon people and want to point and laugh, even though in a a sense, I am those people... WALKING LOG STEPS....10824

Thursday, August 03, 2006 Today, my sister and I went over to the hospital to visit my brother. Luckily, I remembered to bring along the socks and underwear I bought yesterday for him. I was surprised when I went over my fathers house to begin the journey to see my brother because my Uncle Leon was there. This was surprising because he told me on Sunday that he only has time enough to visit my father on the weekends. Anyway, it was Uncle Leon and not a hack that drove us to the hospital. Sadly, my father declined to come along. I wondered what made him change his mind so suddenly. He looked dressed for the occassion. Anyway, when we finally got to the hospital everything was OK. However, it now appears that my brother is mad at me. When he gets sick he usually gets delusional which is part of the reason why he ended up in the hospital. On my last visit he handed me a sealed envelope with all kinds of crazy writing on it. He wanted me to deliver it to a woman that may or may not exist on a street that may or may not exist. He claims that she is the key to him getting out of the hospital. I am too freaked by the outer appearance of the letter to check to see if such a woman at such an addresss exists. I am afraid that if I did deliver the letter to her (that is if she exists) I would end up in jail or in the looney bin along with my brother. So I suppose here on out I should avoid any future trips to the hospital to visit my brother. I just can not bring myself to lie to him and tell him that I delivered the letter when I did not. Hopefully, they will put him on the right meds and he will be right as rain again,....that is until his next breakdown..... WALKING LOG STEPS....2278

Wednesday, August 02, 2006 Today, after work I went to Walmart. I went there to get my brother socks and underwear. Hopefully, my father will be able to get a hack to take me and my sister over to the hospital to give them to him. I have to say it was not as frustrating as it was last Saturday trying to find him a pair of size 40 waist 34 length cargo pants. Of which I now hear he no longer fits. He has gone up to a 42 waist! I suppose my best bet in finding him clothes that fit would be interviewing every big man I run into to get store suggestions that are near a bus, subway, or light rail stop. I have to say I never knew how hard it was to find clothes for big men. WALKING LOG STEPS....10568
