The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
About Me
I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

Sunday, May 27, 2007 My goal is to watch as many movies that my nieces gave me this Memorial Day weekend as possible. I started breakfast with Akeelah and the Bee. As you can recall I saw the first half of it during jury duty. Lunch I watched How to Loose a Guy in 10 Days. I picked up this movie on the recommendation of my nephew. The movie was pretty darn good. Dinner time I watched Casino Royale. I thought it was a pretty good reboot of the James Bond franchise. However I hated that Bond got soft and proclaimed his love for the accountant as soon as that happened I knew she would either betray him or was toast(bound to die a tragic death). WALKING LOG

Saturday, May 26, 2007 Today, I visited my brother in the hospital. It took me a while to find his room because they moved him to another section of the hospital. He was up when I visited him and that was good. He was unconscious when my sister and her children visited him yesterday in the intensive care unit. I did not want to visit him yesterday because I knew he would be out of it. I pray that my brother has a full recovery. Afterall, he is the only brother I have. SATURDAY MOVIE: BORAT By the way he is a cousin of Simon Baron Cohen who does autism research. I do not agree with his cousin’s theory that autism is a caused by an extreme male brain. Afterall, I am female, autistic, and do not feel that my brain is the slightest bit male. However, I do agree with his earlier theory on mindblindness and its relation to autism. WALKING LOG

Wednesday, May 23, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: ART SOLD & I STARTED READING A BOOK Also yesterday, several years ahead of schedule I started reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I am reading the book even though I know that Proffessor Snape is the aforementioned half blood Prince. I also know that Snape kills Dumbledore. Its a widely held debate among Potter fans if it was accidental premeditated or perhaps that Dumblebore asked him to do it. Even though I know all this Snape is still my favourite character in Harry Potter. I think this is because I like characters that are duplicious in nature. Snape is on the side of good but he is a bit of a jerk and a mean teacher. I like that his character is more grey than 100% good or evil. Another character I liked that was like this was Mara Jade from the Star Wars books. Her character could play from both sides like Snape but always in the end sided with the forces of good. Thursday, May 17, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: BOOK NEWS! Next I'll read Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. I suppose I probaly won't start that one until a couple of months before the movie comes out. As far as the Half Blood Prince goes the plot will be no surprise to me. I already know that Professor Snape is the half blood Prince and that in the book he may or may not have killed Dumbledore. Maybe in a couple of weeks I will order Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows off of Amazon.com or just wait for it to come out in paperback. Decisions...Decisions... WHAT I AM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Monday, May 14, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE:This morning I was extremely late for work. I woke up on time but just felt sluggish. Yesterday, was Mother’s Day and my mother is no longer among the living. I know I should have taken today off but I don’t think it would have sounded good to say Im not coming in to work today because I feel sad that my Mommy is dead. WHAT I AM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Sunday, May 13, 2007 What can I say its Mothers Day and I have no one to buy cards or presents for. I did think about the possibility of buying Mothers Day cards for my sister and my nieces. I voted against it because it would have been kind of awkward. In the end I decided to go to Church and work on some paintings. I went to Church because the service was called Our Mother, The Earth. It sounded like it would be a very universal and Nature oriented service. WALKING LOG

SATURDAY ART SHOW
This is a collage painting I did called Flower Lady. I had a lot of fun assembling this piece. However, it was a nightmare to photograph. Lately, I have come to enjoy using reflective paints and materials. Im not sure if I should stop simply because its difficult to photograph properly... This is a painting I did called Running Girl. It is 8x10, acrylic on canvas. I will be the first to adit that I am a horrrible photographer. This afternoon I dropped off my art work at Church for the Baltimore Veterans For Peace Chapter #105 art show. The art show is to honor Baltimore Phil Berrigan Memorial Chapter co-founder Peter D. Molan who recently passed away . I hope that the two paintings I contributed manage to sell. Above are the two paintings I contributed. If they sell I can say I did my part in financially contributing to the spread of peace. Also today I visited my Dad. He seems to be doing well. I think I may be visiting him again next week. It appears that Doctor Who will be off the air for about two weeks because they are running a European song contest called Eurovision. So I have two weeks before they run the next episode entitled 42. Last weeks previews for the upcoming Doctor Who episodes looked fantastic! Can not wait to find out if political candidate, Mr. Saxon is The Master regenerated. Below is the trailer for part two of Series three of Doctor Who. The guy in the oxygen mask is presumed to be Mr. Saxon. WALKING LOG

Tuesday, May 08, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: An interesting thing happened on my light rail trip. There was yet another ticket check at the Mount Washington stop. The ticket check was done yet again by Baltimore city cops. This is unusual because the ticket checkers tend to be female and they seem to only check for tickets in the afternoon. Another thing that was unusual about this was that I was the ticket check did not occur on the late train. As per usual the cop asked to see my ticket but did not wait around to look at it. I wonder if the cops who are at the Mount Washington stop some mornings are there because of disciplinary actions. I can not imagine any self respecting cop actually wanting to do light rail ticket checks in the wee hours of the morning. FAVOURITE SONG OF THE WEEK

Sunday, May 06, 2007 This morning I went to Church. It was our annual Union Sunday service. The service commemorates the anniversary of William Ellery Channing’s 1819 speech at our Church entitled Unitarian Christianity“. His speech was the foundation for the modern Unitarian movement. This is the second Union Sunday I have attended. It is usually crowded. This Sunday was no exception. Instead of sitting in the pews I had to sit in these metal folding chairs that were roped off and reserved for a middle school cluster. Why middle schoolers were segregated off from the rest of the Church population I have no idea. I also thought it would be nice to attend Union Sunday because it would be the one time during the year when the choir is guaranteed not to sound elderly and creaky. The reason being is that for Union Sunday there is a combined choir with other Unitarian churches. My favourite part in the service was towards the end when the combined choir sang. The woman who soloed was spectacular. She sounded like a gospel singer. I had no idea she could seriously sing. The reason for my amazement is that she is a member of our regular church choir. Which makes me wonder, how come they sound aweful when there are some people in the choir who can actually sing? WALKING LOG

Saturday, May 05, 2007 Yesterday, I bought my niece a digital camera, camera case, and memory card from Best Buy. I did it because I wanted to do something nice. I have to admit that I felt apprehensive about going to an electronics store. It seems that every-time I go into one I am ignored by the sales staff. Im not sure if its because Im female or that I look like Im not serious about buying anything. All I know is that the sales people seem to rush to help male customers faster than me. Yesterday, this was not the case. As I walked into the door I got immediate attention from a sales person albeit a female sales person. All I can say is that at last I finally did not feel ignored by the sales staff in an electronics store! WALKING LOG

Friday, May 04, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: WORK NEWS: Also yesterday the custodial staff closed down *ALL* the restrooms in the building around the end of my shift. This did not bode well for me because Im the type of person who likes to use the ladies room before I leave out of anywhere. I had to wait 30 minutes after my shift ended for the custodial staff to reopen the restrooms. In the future hopefully they will have the foresight to leave at least one restroom open. Yesterday, was like torture for me. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG
