The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore.

My Photo
Name:
Location: Baltimore, Maryland, United States

I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

Originally uploaded by willisgirl.

Since yesterday I have been feeling horribly ill. I think it resulted from a new fangled battery operated toothbrush that I recently bought. I was so enamored with the brush that I believe I forgot to rinse it before I used it for the first time on Saturday morning. As it is now my throat is inflamed and my vocal range has gone from light and perky to James Earl Jones deep. I also have a fever and do not feel very good. Also my throat is cherry red. Which is the tell tale sign of....strep throat! So as you can imagine I took the day off work and retired to my bed for regular doses of cold medicine and Chloraseptic throat spray.

HEROES
Last night on Heroes I was surprised about Hiro’s father played by George Takei. Is Hiro’s father behind everything?

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on a black turtleneck, blue jeans, a fair isle knit sweater of blue, white, dark and light grey. I also have on Nike MaxAir shoes. I decided to put on my tennis shoes because the majority of snow is off the ground.

MORNING COMMUTE:
I was late for work this morning because when there is any sort of wintry weather condition on the ground I do not like to rush. I did not want to fall and hurt myself with all the snow that was on the ground. Also of course I had stayed up past my usual bed time to watch the Academy Awards.

Luckily, by the time I left out the snow had turned to slush and the light rail trains were back on course. I had heard earlier news reports that the trains were having trouble due to ice on the tracks. The trains earlier this morning could go no further than the Timonium stop. I needed a train that went all the way to the last stop, Hunt Valley. Since I left out later than usual my train went right on through the line. So despite my being late I had no delay getting to work. Hmmm, I wonder if that last sentence made any sense?

THE ACADEMY AWARDS

First off I have to admit that I did not see any of the movies that were nominated or won this year. My only reason for watching this year was to see if this would be the year that Marty would finally win an Oscar for Best Director. And, yes Marty finally got his long deserved Oscar and I cheered loudly from my living room as he received it from his pals Steven Spielburg, Francis Ford Coppolla and George Lucas.

I also cheered loudly when Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. I cheered because I remember her being on American Idol and Simon not liking her very much. So this was kind of like vendication. Also Im fat and I like it when fat girls win.

I again cheered when Forrest Whitaker received an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in The Last King of Scotland. I cheered because I remember back in the day when he used to play the Gooch on Different Strokes. Who knew that the Gooch would go so far?

Sadly, I have seen not a one of any of their performances nor have I seen Scorseses, The Deaparted. However, I hope to see them when they become available on Netflix.

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on blue slacks, a blue turtleneck, my favourite sweater of blue, beige, and white. I also due to the snow have on my new winter boots.

Today, I am deathly afraid of the coming winter storm that is predicted for tomorrow. So I did something I rarely do because I have only one shopping cart. I went to the supermarket and the laundromat at the same day.

SATURDAY NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT
For entertainment tonight I listened to the last episode of the new Doctor Who series featuring Paul McGann produced by Big Finish Productions in conjunction with BBC7. In total the new series was comprised of just eight episodes. Sorry to say that I missed about half of them. Unfortunately, this particular episode was a two-parter and I did not get to hear the episode that ran last week.

Overall, the episode that I heard was rather engaging. It was on par with other Big Finish audios that I own. I suppose I will be purchasing all the audios to the new series as I already own almost all of ones that feature Paul McGann as the Doctor.

I shall say it here and now Paul McGann is my all time favourite Doctor on audio. I only wish that they had given him the opportunity to further portray the eighth Doctor in the new television series.

This morning I am time for work. I left out early so that I could catch the #10 bus which unlike the #20 bus appears to run closer to the posted bus schedule.

MY NEW FAVOURITE SONG:
A song I have been really digging lately is Grace Kelly by a singer named Mika. I like it because it sounds so unique. Its very bouncy and pop. Odds are if you are an American and are reading this you have never heard the song before on the radio. The reason why I have heard it and loved it is because I like to listen to British radio over the internet. I have to say that I know very little about Mika other than he is British, flamboyantly gay, and sings eerily like the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. In fact Mika sounds so much like Freddie Mercury that I think Queen should dump Paul Rodgers whom they have recently toured with and put Mika in his place.

I wonder how far this song will go on the US charts? So far it has spent five weeks at number one on the UK charts. I hope that it will at least make the Top 10. It is such a fun song! Anyway, below is the video to my new favourite happy power song, Grace Kelly by Mika.

MORNING COMMUTE:
This morning I was on time for work. I amazingly took a #20 bus that showed up early. I had more than enough time to buy breakfast at 7eleven.

MY GRIPE
I rarely gripe anything. But right now I feel like griping. I am upset because of a news report I saw on TV that said that instead of 30 minutes of brisk walking a day it is now recommended that you do 60 minutes of walking to avoid such things as heart disease and cancer. I do not understand why all of a sudden they upped the requirements. I was happy doing just 30 minutes of brisk walking a day during my lunch break. Does this now mean that my 30 minutes of brisk walking amounts to nothing? Would I have been better off if I just sat on my tookis or is a little better than nothing at all? I suppose in the end only time will tell....

WHAT I AM WEARING:Today, I have on a cocoa brown sweater, an ecru turtleneck with a red patchwork design, blue jeans, and my new winter boots.

This morning I was going to Church after I came back from the supermarket. However, it took me longer than usual coming back from the supermarket. This was due to all the ice that still covers the sidewalk. Oh, well I suppose I will see the gang over at First Unitarian Church next Sunday.

THE SENATOR THEATRE
After coming back from the supermarket I did my part by donating online to The Senator Theatre. I would really hate to see Tom Kiefaber loose the theatre after all these years. I still hold a soft spot for The Senator because it is the best place in town to see blockbuster movies. I remember standing in line on York Road to see Star Wars there. I hope that he will be able to raise the money he needs for the theatre by Wednesday.

Today, the big event for me was to head to Security Mall to pick up suitable winter shoes. The shoes I wore yesterday were badly run over and I felt achy in my legs after taking them off. To be fair the shoes are old and are in need of being replaced. I suppose that with all the yoga I have been doing I can tell when body is out of alignment.

I ended up buying two pairs of winter shoes. One is a boot of suede and rubber that I picked up from Sears, the other is a shoe I found at Payless that said on its tag that it is oil and slip resistant. It is a black leather lace up shoe with a well grooved sole.

I hope that the two shoes serve me well in my battle against slipping and falling on ice.

MORNING COMMUTE

I was on time for work this morning. I was on time because I was lucky enough to catch a cab. The cabbie I got this morninig was the old guy whom I think either has Alzeheimers or is mildy retarded.

ANNA NICOLE NEWS
Three men are now claiming to be the father of Anna Nicoles baby. Egad! She must have been pretty easy. This all makes me wonder how many more men will be claiming to be her babys daddy?

THE GRAMMYS
My favourite performance last night was Mary J. Blige. I liked how she performed with a full orchestra backing her up. It added a new dimension to her song, Be With You. I also liked Christina Aquilar. She did better than I thought she was capable of. Sadly, I missed the reunion of The Police. They were among my all time favourite acts of the 80’s. I hope that when they do their reunion tour that they will stop by Baltimore. Somehow, I feel that that is unlikely. No top rock act ever performs in Baltimore in the summer time. I remember one year U2 wanted to play at MT&T stadium but the stadium commission 86d it. However, they did perform in Baltimore at First Mariner Arena in the fall. I remember because I went to the show. Who knows maybe The Police will end up playing First Mariner Arena like U2 and The Rolling Stones did.

WHAT I AM WEARING:Today, I have on blue jeans, a fair isle knit sweater of olive green, brown, ecru, and light blue. I also have on an olive green turtleneck and New Balance 653 shoes.

Last night I went to the BSO to see The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. This makes the second time I have seen them at the BSO. In fact they were the first show I saw many years ago when I started subscribing to the BSO. Last night they were absolutely brilliant. There were a lot of dancing senior citizens in the audience. The opening act to The Preservation Hall Jazz Band was also pretty good.

MORNING COMMUTE:
I just missed the #10 bus and had to wait for the #20 bus. The #20 bus is supposed to arrive at 6:02 but it never does. It usually shows up anywhere from 6:08 to 6:12. So as you have probably guessed I am late again for work. I can not wait until the Spring comes and I am rid of the chronically late bus driver who resembles a zombie.

Anna Nicole Smith
Yesterday, I was shocked to find out that Anna Nicole Smith had died. I found out the news as I was gathering my things from the Doctors office. A nurse excitedly exclaimed that Anna Nicole had died. I gasped as did almost all the patients and staff. It was all just so unbelievebly tragic especially on the heels of her sons death.

I have to admit that the conspiracy theorist in me wonders if she was possibly murdered by her husband, Howard K. Stern. You have to admit that with her son and her out of the way that leaves a clear path for him to gain guardianship over their baby daughter Danni Lynne and the babys possible million dollar trust fund.

METFORMIN REPORT
I am happy to report that yesterday I finally received my Metformin. I had to pick it up from the post office. I am happy again! :)

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on khaki slacks, a dark blue turtleneck, and my favourite sweater of light blue, beige, and white, along with Nike MaxAir shoes.

This morning I took the #10 bus down to the light rail station. I had more than enough time before my train arrived so I stopped off at the 7 eleven. When the train arrived it stalled a lot between stops. It now looks like despite getting the train on time I might end up being late for work.

When I finally arrived at work I immediately noticed that it was unnaturaly cold inside the building. I spent half the morning shivering while wearing my hat, scarf, and mittens to keep warm. Thankfully, before the morning ended the heating situation was fixed. This was great for me because I had to leave early today for a Doctors appointment.

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on a purple henley, blue jeans, and my New Balance 653 shoes.

MORNING COMMUTE:
This morning it is snowing outside. It is a dry fluffy snow. I do not imagine that it will be staying around for very long. It has the consistency of soap powder. Because of the snow I was apprehensive about leaving out. There are a lot of school closings being announced in the area. Despite my apprehension I left out the door for work.

When the light rail train arrived it was only two cars long. I believe that they might have done this because of the school closings. I feel that this was silly because when I leave out in the morning there are no school children aboard the light rail.

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on a cocoa brown sweater, a red and white striped blouse, blue jeans, and Reebok MaxAir shoes.

It is extremely cold outside. I feel as though I am living in the Arctic Zone. Hopefully, I will be on time this morning. Oh, well it looks like I will not be on time. We had to switch trains at the North Avenue stop. Why? Oh Why? Is it that everytime we switch trains it seems to always be at North Avenue?

I am still feeling misty eyed over watching the Doctor Who episode Doomsday. Reluctantly, I decided to watch the sixth and final disc to my box set, the Doctor Who Confidential disc. It was a very informative disc except for David Tennants video diary. I found that the video diary that he put together seemed disjointed. It felt as though I was watching random observations. I felt that it would have been better if it were edited in a more linear fashion. Maybe follow the actual shooting schedule of the show or the shows episodes as they were aired.

Today, I watched disc 5 of Doctor Who The complete series. I have to admit that right now I feel very sad after watching the season finale. Anway, here are my quick notes on the episodes:

FEAR HER
Seemed cheaply put together. It reminded me a lot of old school Doctor Who.

ARMY OF GHOSTS
Cybermen and Daleks what more can I say. It was like the ultimate face off. Surprisingly, the two never fought during the original run of the series.

DOOMSDAY
The ending of this episode made me cry. This is the episode that made me feel sad. I felt sad because it was Roses swan song for the series. Billie Piper please come back!

MORNING COMMUTE:
The #20 bus was late again. I tried to catch the #10 bus by leaving out early. Apparently, that bus in contrast with the #20 leaves earlier than the posted MTA scheduled arrival time. On an up note the light rail train was 1-2 minutes late this morning.

TV SHOWS:
I do not watch much TV on a regular basis. The only TV show I make it a point to watch is American Idol (when it is on) and Heroes. Other shows I watch occasionally when I can remember when they are on include: Everybody Hates Chris, The Office, My Name is Earl, Grey’s Anatotmy, and House. What is the point to this post you ask? Well there is no point.

WHAT I AM WEARING:
Today, I have on black slacks, an oatmeal coloured long sleeve lycra top, a turquiose v-neck sweater, and Nike MaxAir shoes.
