The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
About Me
I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

SATURDAY...TROUBLING DAY However, listening to the station this morning was a sad reminder of how much I miss HFS and how WTMD is a poor alternative. As I have written countless times, WTMD, plays new music but its more on the folky, alt country side of the street. Nothing that really truly rocks out. To there credit they have Altered Fridays which I have enjoyed listening to. At work I left out earlier than I wanted to because I became very worried that I could not reach anyone like my father in the hospital or either of my nieces. I found this very troubling. It turns out my insticts were correct. When I got to the hospital my father was in a bad way. It turns out the previous night they had given him Coreg. His body can not tolerate it. He was completely out of it when I came to visit him. He was sitting in the bed with unchewed food in his mouth. He could not stay awake long enough to chew his food. I had never seen him that out of it. I told the nurse that he used to take Coreg but the doctor told him to stop because the pills were causing him to have blackouts, become disoriented, and dizzy. She told me that they have discontinued giving him the drug because it appears his new symptoms could be considered an allergic reaction. WHAT IM WEARING:

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 I took a pre-scheduled day off for MLK’s real birthday. I first visited dad in hospital. Then went over to Carleen to bring over the cell phone that I put more minutes on and a charger for Adrianna’s iPod shuffle. After that I went to buy new tennis shoes. I wanted to go to Security Mall but ended up at Valu City. Which was good because I got new Reebok walking shoes for 39 bucks. WALKING LOG

Sunday, January 13, 2008 Today I took a cab down to church because the bus was running late. The sermon was on Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk. The sermon was very educational and enligtening. Afterwards I went to KFC because I promised Carleen last night that I would buy chicken. Big David drove us over the hospital. I had to pay him gas money in order for him to take us. Carleen said that David was very sick. He did look ill like maybe he had an autoimmune disease or something. As we were arriving to the hospital we saw Darlene and Michelle walking in. Also I saw a woman I knew from work named Sandra. Im not sure if she still works at my job or not. While at the hospital I visited Dad and Aunt Josephine. I talked to Aunt Corrina on the phone. She is a very unique person. She has been to Africa twice to do missionary work. She is the wife of my late Uncle Randolph. She is cousin Elenor’s mother. WALKING LOG

Saturday, January 12, 2008 I was on my way to visit my father. I called him up beforehand. I felt down when he told me that the Doctors had given up hope that Aunt Josephine would make a full recovery. I also talked to my brother Carlos on the phone. It appears that Big David is in town. I suspect he will be living at the house until Dad leaves the hospital. WALKING LOG

Wednesday, January 09, 2008 Today I went back to work. I was late. The train was short a car coming to and leaving from work. Is the one car thing a new trend? After work I visited my father. While at the hospital I saw all of Kweisi’s sisters and cousin Karen. I feel bad that I did not go upstairs to visit Aunt Josephine. As I was leaving out to see her they were arriving to get me to take me home. I did not want to keep them waiting WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

BAD DAY
Last night I got word that my father was in Northwest Hospital. I was scheduled to return to work today but did not. I wanted to stay until my father got a room in the hospital. I was surprised to see that my cousin Kweisi came by. Aunt Josephine is also in the same hospital. She is in a diabetic coma. I felt very sad to see her in that state. Right now I am feeling devastated with two family members in the same hospital. All I can do now is pray... WALKING LOG

Monday, January 07, 2008 MONDAY If this ever gets picked up in the States I can see it going to Nikelodeon. I do not see it going to the Disney chanel because they might be a little sensitive about the jabs made about High School Musical. Loved that they included the effeminate father in their adventures. He now is in on everything. There also has been online chatter that they included him so that Sarah Jane would have a love interest. This to me seems wrong. Allan is young enough to be Sarah Janes older son. Liz Sladen is in her 50s the actor playing Maria’s father is in his 30s. I would rather he just stay the effiminate father with a non discussed sexuality. I would rather they stay platonic. Love the woman playing Marias mother she reminds me of Jackie Tyler. After finishing up watching all of the Sarah Jane Adventures I decided to give Torchwood a second chance. I watched the second and third episodes. They were better than I remembered. I thought it would be good to catch up because the series starts up again on the 16th and James Marsters, Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel has signed on to have a reaccuring role on the series. He will be playing a rival time cop Captain John something or other. I am not sure if his character will be American like John Barrowmans Captain Jack or British like Spike. All I know is that something happens and he and Captain Jack unexpectantly kiss. I saw a preview of the first few minutes of the season opener on Freema Agyeman’s website and it looks exciting. I can not wait! Speaking of which who maintains Freemas site? I seriously doubt that she has the time to act and keep a totally up to date website on her own. Anyway Freema will also be in the new season of Torchwood. WALKING LOG

Sunday, January 06, 2008 SUNDAY On the show Sarah Jane is the mother of an adopted 13 year old boy named Luke. He is a super genius new to the world, very naive, and was created by alien. Wow! Sarah Jane a mom. Sarah Janes next door neighbor is another 13 year old teen named Maria and her newly divorced Dad, Allan. There has been speculation on some message boards that maybe her father is gay and that is why he split up with his wife and he, not his ex wife has custody of the childl. I do not think that this question will ever be answered as this is a childrens show aimed at tween and teens not mean to get into adult subject matter. However, I do think its possible that Marias father is gay but its a kids show so that topic will not be explored. WALKING LOG

Thursday, January 03, 2008 MORNING COMMUTE: Oh, before I forget I am on time for work this morning. I took a cab down to the light rail station. The cabbie neglected to turn on the meter. I paid him four bucks for the ride. He gave me choice of four or five bucks. I only had four at the ready. Normally, with the meter on it would cost me three something. I am starting to get the feeling that when we overtime the night before its a likely hood Ill be on time the next day. Maybe Im the sort of person that functions better with less sleep. Tuesday, January 01, 2008 HAPPY NEW YEAR Later in the evening I watched ITs a Wonderful Life on a site that mostly has old movies that are in the public domain. I do not know why but my favourite part in the movie is when George Bailey gets mad and starts yelling at Uncle Billy then next his kids. Then his wife Mary says, George Must You Torture the Children! I just find that part laugh out loud funny. Later I saw Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes in my favourite Holmes story, The Man with the Twisted Lip. I found it on another site that primarily shows movies that are in the public domain. After that I watched Basil Rathbone play Sherlock Holmes in Dressed to Kill. I never understood the title. The movie seemed to be taking place in the 40s and not the Victorian era like the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories do. I suppose it probably had something to do with budget. By the way I have read all the Sherlock Holmes stories penned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I have a two volume set of them that I bought as a teenager via the Quality Paperback Book Club. Currently, I am revisting the Sherlock Holmes radio show on CD. I have a two disk cd set of them. All the shows are dramatised versions of Conan Doyles stories that appeared in The Strand Magazine. The radio series has who else but Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. I have to say that the guy who is Jeremy Brett’s Doctor Watson seems a lot more brighter than previous incarnations of that character. WALKING LOG
