The Adventures and Misadventures of a Neer Do Well Artist Living in Baltimore. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
About Me
I am a visual artist and writer living in Baltimore. I don't have any artist friends. Frankly, artists scare me, there so darn flaky. The above picture is either of me or proof that I'm a pretty decent artist. My goal is to be a self sufficient artist, whereas I wouldn't have to do something else in the day in order to eke out an existence. I also like to attend various cultural events around town. I go to plays, the symphony, etc. Also, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I found this out recently and it has explained a heck of a lot as to why I am as I am.

Sunday, September 30, 2007 SUNDAY, CHURCH DAY After Church I went home and watched TV on my Apple MacBook. TV ON THE COMPUTER After watching the season openers to shows I missed I finished watching the complete 4th season of Entourge that recently aired. I could not help myself who knows how long those links will be up? I also watched Eastern Promises a Russian mob movie set in England, starring Viggo Mortensen. Overall, it was pretty damn good. I would be shocked if my man, Viggo, did not get a best actor nomination. I also found myself slowing down and pausing the film a little because of the nude fight scene Viggo has with some fully clothed hitmen in a steam room. He was the only one naked while the other two were fully clothed. As far as I could tell it appears he did the scene au naturel. However, the film quality was not too good. Unfortunatly, the version of the film that I saw was not complete. I have no idea how the movie ended. The last scene I saw was Viggio talking to the Scotland Yard or MI5 guy and you get the big reveal that Viggo’s character is an undercover KBG agent then the movie cuts off with no payback or proper ending. I did not even see an end title sequence. Oh, well I suppose I will have to rent the movie in a couple of months to find out how it ends. WALKING LOG

Saturday, September 29, 2007 NO OVERTIMEAgain, this Saturday, no overtime was offered at work. I spent the day grocery shopping and visiting my father. I remembered to make a stop at Dunkin Donuts to pick up his favourite donut, a Boston Creme Donut. He told me he was not feeling too well. Hopefully the donut will raise his spirits a little. His breathing seems very labored. I hope he feels better tomorrow. I bought a bucket of KFC chicken at the store on Fayette Street. I usually buy a bucket of chicken and side orders for my family to eat when I come over to visit on Saturday. Today, the store was a little crowded. I think it may have been because there was a baseball game today. They even ran out of chicken. It must have been seriously busy in the store for them to run out of chicken. Because of this I had to wait a little before my order was ready. Oh, earlier in the day I bought my father a telephone book because he often forgets or looses phone numbers because they are all on various scraps of paper. I also bought my sister some Dove soap because she had called me up earlier today to ask if I would pick some up for her. When I got over the house she had already bought herself some soap as well as other things from the store. While visiting my father I also played with my grandniece, Shay who is seven. We played the Disney Edition of a game called, Guess Who. Then a little later she shanghighed me into playing school with her. While playing I learned that she got a Birthday card from her teacher for September 27th. She showed it to me. Her birthday is in April. I do not understand why her teacher gave her a birthday card when her birthday is in April not September. Oh, well,.... Not my kid, Not my problem.... WALKING LOG

Friday, September 28, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: FEELING SLIGHTLY LESS WORRIED I will wait until seven tonight because that was around the time he called last week to see if she has called him about anything else... If I do not receive a phone call by seven I will consider it an automatic OK to relax a little and try to unwind. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Thursday, September 27, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: FEELING UNEASY I have lived there for close to a decade without one single complaint until now. Surely, a record like that is in my favour? All I know is that I do not want to get another angry phone call from my landlord claiming that my neighbor had told me several times about her complaint when she did not. I feel so nervous and shaky that Im thinking of going into therapy over this. My legs even feel slightly wobbly when I walk. I do not feel as sure footed as I did before the incident. I just want to know why she went directly to him instead of saying something to me first. The whole thing is just so disconcerting. Is the problem with me or with her? At the very least she could have left a note on my door telling me of her concerns. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Wednesday, September 26, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: THE NEIGHBOR At first I was really troubled by this then I remembered the Law of Karma. All Im saying is that she should have said something to me first before she went to him and over exaggerated the situation. Oh well, that’s life.... WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Monday, September 24, 2007 Today, I started watching season two of Entourage. I watched up until James Cameron approved Vince Chase for Aquaman. I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering if E could pull it off. This of course was stupid because I knew that he would get the part. I read about the show on the internet. The reason I have only watched the show on the internet is because I do not see myself ever getting cable. It costs too darn much and the price for it keeps going up. If I want to watch a show, I’ll watch it on the internet, or rent it on Netflix. WALKING LOG

Sunday, September 23, 2007 SUNDAY CHURCH DAY Jiggetts is a highly unique last name. The vast majority of people with that surname are African American. If I run into a Jiggetts odds are they are kin. So it was nice to see someone I might be in some way related to at my Church on Sunday during the Fall Equinox service. After Church I watched all of season one of Entourage. This was the expensive box set I bought at Borders. When I went to Target I picked up season two for just 19.99. I think I’ll go back there next pay day to pick up season three part one. Season three part two does not come out until October 2. Why they broke the season up like this I do not know? Why I’ve become addicted to watching this sitcom I don’t know. The main reason I had to buy the disks was because all the episodes are not available online. My two favourite characters on the show are Johnny Drama played by Kevin Dillon and super agent, Ari Gold played by Jeremy Piven. I believe those two regulary go against each other with best comedy supporting actor Emmy nominations. As far as I know Piven has picked up two Emmys for his role in the series. WALKING LOG

Saturday, September 22, 2007 NO SATURDAY OVERTIME Since there was no work I went over my fathers house earlier than usual. I ate breakfast at McDonald’s I had one of their iced coffees. It did not taste as good as it did the first time I tried it. This time it was a little bitter and not as sweet. Almost every Saturday that I visit my father I bring a bucket of KFC chicken and side orders with me. This time I could not go to the KFC on Fayette. When I went to the store at 11am there was a sign in the window that said they had a grease fire and would be opening up momentarily. I felt stunned by this news as well as reluctant to buy chicken after a recent grease fire. My fear was that it would not taste right. So I decided to go to an alternate KFC. The only one I could think of was the KFC on North Avenue and Saint Paul. When I made it there there was a group of developmentally handicapped adults there with their counselor ordering food. I was not sure if the store accepted ATM cards because I did not see any credit card signs in the windows and I would hate to order food and then find out that my suspicions were true that for what ever reason in 2007 this particular branch did not deal with plastic. So I asked if they accepted ATM cards. The cashier said no, because there machine was down. I had no other choice but to leave and find an ATM to withdraw cash from. I ended up at the train station. I got the food and placed it in newly bought shopping cart. When I finally got over my fathers house I gave him the photocopies of his insurance invoice form, and a newly bought shaving mirror. I also gave my nephew his new iPod in a butch silver grey colour. He told me he wanted one but not in the pink colour that my grandniece Shay has. WALKING LOG

Friday, September 21, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: ANOTHER LAPTOP I know that he would be interested in watching a show like that Ken Burns documentary. He loves watching news and shows about WWII. I guess I would be buying this as a kind of experiment. I do not own an HDTV yet. I’ll see if he likes it. If he does then I’ll get one for myself. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Thursday, September 20, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: LEFT EARLY Every morning I make it a point to put a little something in my mouth before I leave out for work. The reason being is so that I would not be taking my Metformin on an empty stomach which you guessed it could lead to nasseau. The only thing I had for breakfast was a cup of coffee. Recently, I started making my own coffee in the morning to save money because almost every morning I would end up buying a cup at Dunkin Donuts. This was the first time in the week and a half that I decided to brew my own coffee that I drank it without eating anything along with it. Also at work I like to drink a bottled Starbucks vanilla cappuccino. I believe a combination of drinking two coffee drinks with no food buffer and then taking my medicine on an empty stomach really did me in. I usually take my first dose of Metformin a little after nine. By eleven that morning I felt as though I had just gotten off a tilt whirl. I felt nauseous and miserable. I did not feel that I could continue on at work. Even when I buy a coffee I also buy a reduced fat blueberry muffin (9-points on Weight Watchers) as a buffer. This morning I made extra sure to eat something before I left out. I had a Lean Hot Pocket. Usually home breakfast fare is usually Weight Watchers baked goods like Blue Berry Muffins 3-points, or any of there 1-point treats like carrot cake, caramel cake, chocolate cake, etc. along with a cup of coffee WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

He seems to be a very gregarious person so Im not surprised by the response he got. WALKING LOG

Saturday, September 15, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: I have to say after drinking the iced vanilla coffee, their iced coffees are way better than the ones at Dunkin Donuts. Usually with the ones at Dunkin Donuts I have to add more sugar to it to sweeten it. The sweetness was just right with the McDonald’s iced coffee. I think I may try another one later next week. As per usual after work I visited my father and bought along a bucket of KFC chicken. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Friday, September 14, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: On a kind of good note I again walked down to the next light rail stop. FARE INSPECTION I still can not get over that angry cop who did fare inspections one morning last winter. That cop clearly had issues and ought to have been in anger management therapy. He acted as though he would bust some heads if we did not take our tickets out fast enough for him. I mean 99% of people taking the train in the morning are heading to work and not fleeing a crime scene. You could take one look at us and tell that we were working people not gang bangers. Thankfully, todays cop was reasonable. He didnt act as though he would pistol whip us at any moment. Hopefully, that cop from last winter is in therapy. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Thursday, September 13, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: VOTER TURN OUT One thing I did not like about the race was how the media constantly touted Sheila Dixon as being the winner before the election even began. I am not a big fan of Sheila Dixon. I kind of liked Jill Carter but she tends to speak in a slighty rushed manner. I would have voted for Keiffer Mitchell. The problem with him was that his campaign manager, his father, appeared to have it in for him. I do not understand why. From what I see of Keiffer he seems like a nice guy. I do not understand why his father stole money from his son’s campaign and the day before the election kicked Keiffer out of his own campaign headquarters. Keiffer’s dad sounds like a pretty mean vindictive piece of work. Then again I do not know them personally. For all I know Keiffer’s dad might be nice and kicking his son out might have been justified... As fas as Sheila Dixon goes she is this close to being indicted. She gives jobs to family and friends who never show up for work but just cash checks. Also I could be wrong in thinking this but Sheila Dixon looks a little anorexic. In her campaign literature she is pictured beside her son and daughter who appear to be of normal weight however she looks downright skeletal. This makes me wonder if she has an eating disorder or is just naturally boney. Overall, I felt extremely apathetic about the candidates, Sheila Dixon (about to be indicted), Keiffer Mitchell (serious problem with his Dad), Joan Carter (fast talker). WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: I was literally five steps away from the stop when I saw the bus pass by. I ended up taking the #1 bus. Then I got on a train where I honestly believe it was being driven by a functional retard. The train was marked Cromwell. The Cromwell train is a southbound not northbound train. Clearly, the driver had just arrived from Cromwell and did not bother to change the sign on his train. I got on it anyway hoping that the driver would eventualuuy announce his final destination. 90% of lightrail drivers announce their final destinations at various stops. This imbecile never did. He said absolutely nothing until he arrived at the Mount Royal stop. All he said when he reached the Mount Royal stop was, “Mount Royal.” When he got to the North Avenue stop all he said was “Next stop...” without any mention of what the next stop was. During my entire ride not once did this imbecile say where his final stop was. I did not know if he was a Penn Station, Timonium, or Hunt Valley train. Thankfully he did not turn after the Mount Royal stop into the tracks that lead to Penn Station. The way this imbecile was driving I would not put it pass him to have driven there without telling any of the passengers. At the Timonium Business Park stop he said the next stop is Timonium. Then I felt a since of relief it must be a Hunt Valley train! Halfway towards the stop almost as an after thought the driver said, Timonium is the last stop! I felt so angry at this imbecile. Did he not know where he was heading? It sure sounded that way. Does the MTA send light rail drivers out higgedly piggedly? This driver at every stop should have announced where his final stop was and not once did the retard do it. The only thing he seemed to remember to do was say, “Next stop is...”, and only occasionally mention what the name of that stop was. Not to mention he did not bother to change the sign on his train. There are basic procedures that drivers should follow and this imbecile was clearly not following them. I don’t know maybe I should not be too harsh for all I know it could have been his first day on the job without a trainer at his side. The guy did sound pretty young... WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Tuesday, September 11, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: Patriot Day 9/11 I also recall that 92Q’s morning show had nada coverage of the event. I do not know why but I felt angry at them for practically ignoring a major news event by treating it as a normal day and playing hip hop song after hip hop song. On that day I found myself seeking out as much news as I could about the event. I remember feeling nervous and slightly frazzled. They had attacked the Pentagon building and DC is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Baltimore. For the first time in my life I knew what it felt like to be under attack. Sure, I grew up in the hood but I know what areas to avoid that might be under attack by gangs or drug dealers. However, this time it was different. It was foreigners trying to take us out and who knew what they would attack. I guess because of the events of 9/11 I like listening to the Ed Norris Show. I love how he ends each show by saying, “ Remember they’re out there and they’re trying to kill us.” Sure it sounds pretty darn paranoid but its true. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Monday, September 10, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: Just as I got off the bus a train was about to come up the tracks. I think the light rail driver was new to the job. Just after North Avenue the train lost power, the lights went off and everything. Luckily she got it together and the train continued barrelling down the tracks trouble free. Sunday, September 09, 2007 SUNDAY BANK DEPOSIT Next I went downtown to the main branch again just trash in the box labeled Envelopes. So I hoped on a bus and into the suburbs. As luck would have it I found plenty of deposit envelopes. The only problem I had was that in the suburbs the ATM for my bank is drive through only. So I had to stalk the ATM until there were no cars about so I could deposit my cash. I felt kind of weird doing this. I hope that the people in their cars did not think I was trying to rob them or was a crazy homeless person. I just needed to deposit money. I suppose the people in the suburbs do not like to leave their cars thus the plethora of drive through only ATM’s. In the city at some branches it’s a combination drive-thru /walk up ATM’s. If there is no drive-thru then the most common ATM in the city is the walk up. ENTOURAGE: Entourage is vast becoming my favourite show. So far I have made it up to season 3. Don’t ask how it is that a person who does not have cable based on principle is able to watch the show. The principle being that I do not believe it is right to pay a company exorbant amounts of money to watch TV. Yeah, Im old skool except where technology is concerned. So yeah, Ive been watching the show free off of the internet. I can not explain why I’ve become so attached to the show. Watching the show is like visiting old friends albeit friends that are a bit self centered. The only drawback from watching it online is that not all the episodes are available. So its pretty much hit and miss. I know that eventually I will end up buying a DVD of the show in order to catch the episodes that have not been uploaded to the internet. If I do this then this will make the second TV show series I've collected. The first being my beloved, Doctor Who. WALKING LOG

Saturday, September 08, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: I wanted to grab breakfast at McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts but due to the influx of well dressed people the line stretched all the way to the back of the store so I did not go in. As far as the light rail goes I noticed that they added a Penn Station train to the regular fleet of trains. Ordinarily, you do not see the Penn Station train until the Mount Royal Stop. So I had to wait for two trains to arrive before my train normally does. I do not understand why there is a train that just goes to Timonium. I’d rather it go back to how it was with a train either going to Penn Station or Hunt Valley. At the York Road station I saw a cat chasing a rabbit in the parking lot. . WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Tuesday, September 04, 2007 MORNING COMMUTE: I think I should be in therapy because of my father’s illness and I find it difficult to cope with the knowledge that he will not be around forever. TV on the INTERNET I liked Arrested Development a lot. I think I will see if I can watch all the episodes to that show online. My oly gripe about the show is that Jason Bateman and the woman who plays his sister on the show look too young to have teenage children. Maybe I’m a litte biased because Im around Bateman’s age and figure if he has a kid on the show they should be elementary school aged because he is in his 30’s. Im sure his real life kids are elementary school aged and not High School aged. For him to have high shool aged kids it would mean his character on the show married straight out of high school or something. Oh I just realized that the kid who played his son in the show was in Super Bad. really clicks with me. I found Little Britain very amusing. Yeah, I know the narrator on the show is the one and only, Tom Baker, also known as the 4th Doctor Who. You know him he’s the one with the curly hair and the long scarf. For some odd reason I feel I am becoming quiet attached to the characters on Entourage. I can not explain why I like it. I just do! I also watched Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Wire. I did not feel that enamored of Curb Your Enthusiasm. But I am willing to give it another look see to try and find out what all the critical praise heaped on it is all about. I watched just a wee bit of The Wire. Its the first time I have ever watched that show. From what I saw it seemed pretty realistic. I could not watch it too long as it was near my bedtime. In the end I think I will try and watch all episodes of Arrested Devolpment and Entourage. And I will give Curb Your Enthusiasm a second chance. WHAT IM WEARING: WALKING LOG

Sunday, September 02, 2007 SUNDAY When I got home I watched not on Joost but somewhere else on the internet.....The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum back to back. The Bourne Ultimatum really rocked. All in all Im glad I watched the second Bourne movie (The Bourne Supremacy) before I saw the third. If I had only watched the latest one I would not have caught on to the fact that the conversation Bourne had with Pam was a retread where she gave him the wrong birthdate thus he knew that she had given him a clue. Loved all the twists and turns in The Bourne Ultimatum. I did not bother to watch the Bourne Identity because I saw it when it first came out in the movies. I do not know if they can make a sequal without querying Robert Ludlum’s estate as the three movies were based on his three Bourne novels. If they made more I imagine they would have to ask permission. If they made more I would definetly be gamed to watch them. All in all Matt Damon did a kick ass job. I also watched a fantasy movie called, Stardust. It was really good. How could anyone resist a movie that features the great Robert De Niro in drag? I think they should have released the movie in the fall instead of August. I think if it were released later in the year it would have gotten a higher box office gross. WALKING LOG

Saturday, September 01, 2007 SATURDAY with JOOST I had nothing to do so I downloaded Joost and watched music videos. Joost is a site that I have heard a lot about on NPR. I feel priviledged to have it. On Joost I watched the first two episodes of Scott Baio is 45 and Single and the first episode of Welcome Back Kotter. I do not know why but I find the Scott Baio show obviously scripted and fake yet addictive. I hope that Joost will be able to get more episodes of the show. Baio in the past has been a shameless womanizer. He has dated women who were never less than tens. Name a blonde Playboy Playmate or major hottie of the 80’s and 90s odds are they are exes of Baio. Surprise, surprise, his current girlfriend is an ex Playboy Playmate. I say he’s single because he’s having fun being Scott Baio. Why spoil the chick magnet lifestyle with a wife? If he does eventually get married I doubt if it will last long before he moves onto the next hottie of the week. Either way its interesting checking into the life of an aging chick magnet and his aging hanger on friends. My goodness its like Enterourage only they are in there forties! I tried to watch Strangers With Candy, the show about a 40something woman who goes back to high school but the system crashed. Oh well.... WALKING LOG
